What I'm Up To Now

Active

This is my now page, inspired by Derek Sivers. Consider it a snapshot of my current adventures in code, life, and the eternal quest for bug-free deployments.

Current Focus

Right now, I'm deep in the trenches of building developer tools that don't make people want to flip tables. My mission: creating software that sparks joy (or at least doesn't spark rage).

Here's what's keeping me caffeinated these days:

  • Building type-safe APIs with TypeScript and exploring the latest frameworks
  • Diving deep into web performance optimization (because users shouldn't age while waiting for pages to load)
  • Writing tutorials that explain complex concepts without the jargon overdose
  • Contributing to open source projects that make developers' lives easier

Active Projects

  • 🚀 DevTools CLI v2.0

Rebuilding my developer productivity CLI from the ground up with better TypeScript types, plugin architecture, and 100% more emoji. Because who says terminals can't be fun?

  • 📚 "APIs That Don't Suck" Guide

Writing a comprehensive guide on building RESTful and GraphQL APIs that developers will actually enjoy using. Includes real-world examples and battle-tested patterns.

  • 🎨 Component Library

Building an accessible React component library with TypeScript, because we need more components that work with screen readers and keyboards.

Currently Learning

  • Rust (because apparently JavaScript isn't fast enough for everything)
  • Advanced TypeScript wizardry - template literals, conditional types, and other dark arts
  • Web3 and smart contracts (with a healthy dose of skepticism)
  • System design patterns for distributed systems
  • How to explain technical concepts without using "basically" or "just" every sentence

Life Outside the IDE

When I manage to close VS Code (rare, but it happens), you'll find me:

  • Perfecting my coffee brewing techniques - currently obsessed with pour-over
  • Reading sci-fi novels and pretending they're "research" for my code
  • Gaming (mostly indie games, because I appreciate good UX everywhere)
  • Taking photos of random things that look "aesthetic"
  • Explaining to family members that no, I cannot fix their printer
